MIDDLEBOURNE – Paul David Wale, 36, will serve 60 years in prison after pleading guilty to robbing the Paden City BFS Marathon at knifepoint last June.

According to the Tyler County Prosecutor Luke Furbee’s office, Wale, a former Huntington, W.Va., was sentenced Jan. 17 to 60 years in prison during a hearing before Tyler County Circuit Court Judge Richard Wilson after pleading guilty to the felony offense of robbery in the first degree.

“Mr. Wale produced a box cutter knife to an attendant of the BFS Marathon store in Paden City and required her to open the cash register on June 5, 2024,” according to the office’s social media.

“He stole $145 in cash from the till. He was taken into custody shortly thereafter and incarcerated in the Northern Regional Jail. He was returned to the jail at the conclusion of the hearing.”

The prosecutor noted that Wale was previously convicted of attempted first degree murder in Kanawha County along with unlawful assault in Fayette County, W.Va.

The Tyler County Sheriff’s Department investigated the case with assistance from the Wetzel County Sheriff’s Department.
