Cat Condo Construction Completed

By Randy Rutherford - | Apr 29, 2026

A compassionate effort to care for Sistersville’s feral cat population is taking shape thanks to the dedication of local business owner Linda Henrickson.

Henricksen, owner of Sistersville Treasures Gift Shop located at 715 Wells Street, has spearheaded the placement of four specially designed cat condos behind the Riverview Apartments in Sistersville, an area known to have a significant number of stray and feral cats. Each condo contains six individual units, providing safe shelter for a total of 24 cats.

The project is part of a broader effort to humanely manage the feral cat population, with the animals currently in the process of being spayed and neutered. By combining shelter with population control measures, the initiative aims to improve both the well-being of the cats and the surrounding community.

Henrickson expressed her appreciation to those who helped bring the project to life, noting that the success of the effort was made possible through the support and cooperation of others who share a commitment to caring for animals in need.

Special thanks are extended to Allen and Tamera for constructing the units, Rosemary and Lois, tenants at the apartments, for feeding and trapping the cats, and Christy, property manager at Riverview Apartments, for allowing the use of the space and to Sistersville Mayor Bill Rice.
