Demolition for New Market Begins
Demolition of the future home of the Local Collective Market at 201 Diamond Street in Sistersville got underway Saturday, April 25, beginning at 11 a.m., as volunteers gathered to help transform a site rich in local history. The building, once home to the Tyler Star News office when the paper was printed locally in the 1970s, holds special meaning for many longtime residents.
Under the direction of market founder Taylor Rosenlieb, volunteers worked steadily throughout the day removing exterior walls, marking the first step in making way for the new community market. Crews will next focus on clearing interior debris before beginning roof work. The Sistersville First Methodist Church graciously supported the effort by providing a luncheon and a place for volunteers to rest and hydrate during the demanding day. Rosenlieb expressed sincere appreciation to all who contributed their time and energy, noting the project was a significant undertaking made possible by strong community support.
