Children enjoy the inflatable bounce houses during the Sistersville Elks Lodge picnic.

Sistersville Elks BPOE #333 held their annual picnic on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the Elks Club in Sistersville. Early morning rain cleared the way, allowing outdoor and indoor activities for both adults and children in attendance. The day centered around a wonderful selection of food, kids’ games, a cornhole competition, a 50-50 drawing, bingo and raffle prizes.

A highlight of the afternoon featured the children’s activity of building paper rockets that were launched from a homemade stomp pad built from PVC pipe and an empty 2-liter bottle. The line of kids waiting for a turn was 10 deep while they all watched and waited for their friends’ rockets to sail some 30 feet in the air. The loudest cheers came when the rockets landed in the baby swimming pool! In addition was the always popular water balloon toss when all participants got a little wet. New this year was the bounce house that saw plenty of activity.

This traditional picnic wouldn’t happen without all the preparation from a team of volunteers. All Elks and their guests extend special thanks to the long list of members working hard to make the day enjoyable for everyone.
