Paden City Lady Wildcats Earn 1st Win of the Season

PC Girls On Defense vs Buckeye Local

The Paden City Lady Wildcats picked up their first win of the season at Parkersburg Christian on Friday, February 11th by the score of 42 to 36. The Wildcats came out in the first half and took a commanding 25-16 lead and continued to build on that during the second half to close out their first victory of the season. McKenzie Thomas, despite fouling out with five minutes to go in the game, recorded 14 points and 10 rebounds. She was followed by Lexi Mathis who also fouled out with three minutes to go in the game but manged to score nine points. Jocelyn Solinski added 10 points and five rebounds and three assists to the winning effort. Mallory Dennis added six points and five rebounds and had strong defensiv performance for the Lady Wildcats.

Parkersburg Christian had seven girls score in the game with Kay Klein leading the way with 12 points followed by L lot was seven.

“Finally got a win !!!! Girls once again played there hearts out. Mallory Dennis stepped up tonight and played very good defensive effort against their best shooter. McKenzie was also stellar for us,” said an excited Coach Josh Fulks.

Doddridge To Much For Lady Wildcats

Paden City Girls Basketball traveled to Doddridge County to take on the Lady Bulldogs on Monday February 7th and came away on the losing end by the score of 90-27.

The Number 5 Ranked Lady Bulldogs wasted little time ending any hopes of an upset racing to a big first quarter lead and never looked back. Doddridge defense was to strong holding the Wildcats’ leading scorer, McKenzie Thomas to 12 points. Others scoring for the Cats were Jocelyn Sawinski with nine, Haley Walton four and Evelyn Smith with two. Doddridge had nine players, four in double figures, hitting the scoring column with Abby McDonough leading the way with a game high 25 points. Emily Gola added 15, Carrie Lloyd 12 and Kylee Spurlock 10.

It will be a busy week for the Lady Wildcats as they return to action on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday all on the road to finish up the week.

Lady Wildcats Travel to Buckeye Local

The Paden City Girls Basketball team made the long trip to Buckeye Local on Wednesday February 9 and came home with a disappointing loss 50-18. The Lady Wildcats, still seeking their first win of the season, ran into a tough Buckeye Local team and were unable to generate any offense. The lone bright spot for the Cats was McKenzie Thomas scoring 12 points, hitting on two three point shots. Adding to the scoring was Lexi Mathis with two and Jocelyn Sawinski with four. Buckeye Local had 10 different players scoring with Valuska leading the way with 11 points. The young Wildcats continue to gain experience as they get closer to the post season.

Paden City Girls Lose Hard Fought Game at Weirton Madonna

The Paden City Lady Wildcats ran into a scoring machine at Weirton Madonna on Thursday night February 10 in Weirton. The Blue Dons had three players score points in the game led by V. Alatis scoring 39 points of the team’s 51 and suffered a tough loss by the score of 51-37. The Lady Cats fell behind by 15 at the break, but played a closer 2nd half outscoring Madonna 16-10 in the 3rd period. McKenzie Thomas led the way for the Wildcats scoring 19 points and pulling down 15 rebounds. She had help from Lexi Mathis with seven points and four rebounds and Haley Walton with seven points and five rebounds.

“My girls played there hearts out last night, this is one we should have came out of on top. I have a feeling we will see them in sectionals and we’re hoping for a different outcome. We are a small group of girls but I wouldn’t trade them for anything, they are finally starting to believe in their ability and we are building for the future,” said Coach Josh Fulks
