Lady Knights Drop Close One to St Marys

The Lady Knights fell to Number 3 Ranked Double A St Marys on Tuesday, February 1 at Kidwell. St Marys built big leads of 18-2 and 24-6 but the Knights battled till the end against the 11-4 Blue Devils but came up on the short end by the score of 42-39. St Marys had to hold on for their lives in the second half as the Knights went toe to toe with the visitors. Juliana Lattea had a game high 13 points and 18 rebounds for the Knights followed by Braeden Wall with eight, Lauren Templeton contributed 10. “We had to adjust our defense after they hit three 3’s and were down 18 to 2. After that we settled down and rebounded the ball limiting them to 1 shot and slowly worked back in it. I thought our aggressiveness was awesome for the game and we jumped the passing lanes really well. We still have to work on our turnovers but was a great way to come out after getting beat by 30 at there place. I think Jules Lattea(freshman) gives alot of spark to our team, she is all over the floor after the ball. It is a good way to start playing as we get closer to sectionals. I hope they feed off this and continue to be hungry for the remaining games,” said Head Coach Tommy Phillips.
