McKenzie Thomas goes in for two of her game high 21 points

Paden City hosted the Bulldogs from Mill Creek on Saturday afternoon in a WV Hometown Invitational Tournament game with the visitors making the three hour drive worthwhile as they kept the Wildcats winless on the season by the tune of 54-22.

The hometown Wildcats fell behind early and never recovered as the Bulldogs took an 11-4 first quarter lead and extended it to 28-11 at the break. Paden City junior McKenzie Thomas had 10 of the Cats 11 first half points with the other coming on a free throw from Haley Walton. The second half was more of the same for Paden City with Thomas the only Wildcat to dent the scoreboard in the final two quarters. She ended as the games top scorer with 21 of Paden City’s 22 total. Thomas also led the team in rebounds as she pulled down eight and added four steals.

Leading the way for the winners from Tygarts Valley was Isabella Shumate with 13 markers and Abigail Cabaniss with 10. Felicity Walden and Landrie Lanhem each contributed eight points. Summer Lewis-Smith added seven.

Jocelyn Sawinski and Mallory Dennis each grabbed four rebounds for Paden City. The Wildcats had trouble finding the basket as they only hit 6-38 field goals with Thomas making all six. They made 7-15 from the free throw line with Thomas hitting 6-7. The Cat’s also suffered 24 turnovers.
