Paden City Gets Big Road Win Against Hundred
The Wildcats traveled to Hundred on Monday, January 10, for their second matchup of the season against the Hornets. The Cats wasted no time in the contest jumping out to a 20-6 first quarter lead on their way to a convincing 58-37 win, despite playing without their leading scorer Joel Moore.
Paden City took the early 6-0 lead on back to back 3-pointers from sophomore guard Jerimiah Thomas who pumped in 10 points in the quarter.
Brandon Hizer worked his way down low for a basket and Joey Baker hit a 3-pointer and two short jumpers to give the Cats a 15-0 lead before Everett Johnson hit from in close and Josiah Morgan drained a three for the home team. Paden City scored the final five points of the frame on a jumper and pair of free throws from Thomas, while Julian Laudauer hit one from the charity stripe.
The second quarter was nearly even with the Wildcats getting a two point edge to go into the locker room up 29-13.
Hundred came out on fire in the third frame and gained five points with a 15-10 edge, but it wasn’t enough as the Cats nominated the fourth quarter 19-9 to pick up their third win of the season.
For Paden City Thomas led the charge with a game high 19 points including 7-10 from the charity stripe, he also had four rebounds, six assists and three steals. Hizer ended with 15 markers and 10 rebounds, three assists, four steals, and three blocked shots, and ended with the games only double-double.
His effort included eight points in the fourth quarter. Shane Anderson was one point shy of a double-double finishing with nine markers and 13 rebounds. Baker scored all seven of his points in the opening frame, but ended the contest with eight rebounds, four assists and three steals. Sophomore point guard Mickey Guerra added three points all from the free throw line.
Hundred got 12 points including a 3-pointer from Johnson who also pulled down nine rebounds and had a pair of steals. Jeffery Morris finished with seven points, David Morris added six, Colton Whitehill hit for five, Dylan Ray canned a pair of baskets for four points and Josiah Morgan ended with three.
Paden City hit 17 field goals including three 3’s and went 15-30 from the free throw line. Hundred made 12 shots from the field including four from beyond the arc, and made 9-16 from the free throw line. The Wildcats had a 43-22 edge in rebounding and turned the ball over nine times to Hundreds 19.
