Silver Knights Wrestling Team Competes in Grafton Duals
Tyler Consolidated Wrestling team traveled to Grafton on December 30 for the Grafton Duals and came away with a 6th place finish. The Knights went 2-3 on the day defeating Hedgesville 58-24 and Philip Barbour 54-18. They dropped three close matches to Keyser 39-36, Buchannon Upshur 42-36 and Braxton County 42-36.
The competition was strong as the Silver Knights were the only Class A team in the field. Stands outs for the Silver were Danny McCune going 5-0, Trenton Huffman 5-0 and Sean Winfrey also going 5-0.
Several other Knights finished the day at 4-1. Coach Paden Morris had the following to say,
“Even though we didn’t come out on top in three close duals with quality opponents we wrestled very well for the day. We picked up some key regional and LKC match up wins and we are seeing improvement every time we take the mat. Myself as well as our assistant coaches are very pleased with the effort the team showed throughout the day.” TCHS next match is at home on January 5 against Paden City, Hundred and River beginning at 6:00.
