Silver Knights Come Up Big on Homecoming

The Silver Knights came to play on Friday Night, October 8, at home vs Buffalo taking the win by the score of 35-0.

Tyler took the opening drive the length of the field with Case Landis taking it in from 5 yards out for the Silver Knight touchdown. The two point conversion run by Sean Winfrey was good to open the night with an 8-0 lead with 7:00 minutes to go in the opening quarter.

Buffalo then fumbled the ensuing kickoff and Tyler recovered at the Buffalo 26 yard line.

Sean Winfrey ran the ball in for the touchdown at the 6:18 mark. The two point conversion failed with TCHS leading 14-0

Tyler’s next drive saw Case Landis again finding the end zone from one yard out with 5:49 to go in the second quarter. The Silver Knights went for two on a halfback pass from Jayden Helmick to Weston Henderson to extend the lead to 22-0 at the half.

The halftime festivities welcomed the Silver Knight marching band joined by several members of the alumni band taking the field to set up the Homecoming Queen announcement. The 2021 Homecoming Queen was Romana Rice.

The third quarter saw more of the same as Tyler’s offense did not let up. Jayden Helmick took a pass from Trenton Huffman and went 34 yards for a touchdown at the 3:20 mark of the third quarter. The two point conversion failed but the lead was 28-0 at the end of the third-quarter.

The Silver Knights would add one more touchdown in the fourth quarter with Sean Winfrey rushing in from 6 yards out and the extra point kick was good to make the final score Silver Knights 35-0. Offensively the Knights were led by Sean Winfrey with 148 yards on 30 attemps and two touchdowns. Jayden Helmick added 78 yards on 12 attempts. On the receiving end of passes from Trenton Huffman was Jayden Helmick with three catchers for 48 yards, Ty Walton one catch for 5 yards and Weston Henderson one catch for 3 yards.

The Silver Knight defense came to play shutting out Buffalo for their third shut out of the season and second consecutive shut out. Leading the defense was Trenton Huffman with four solo tackles followed by Kendall Huffman with five solo tackles. Chase Landis, in addition to scoring two touchdowns on offense, had three sacks of Buffalo quarterbacks.

It was a big night for Tyler Consolidated as they not only picked up the homecoming win but continued their offensive and defensive dominance. The Knights face a strong opponent next Friday night on October 15 as Williamstown comes to Kidwell for a battle to continue the run to the playoffs.
