Wildcats Hammer Hundred, 26-17

The Lady Wildcats tallied 20 of their 36 points off 37 Lady Hornet turnovers to take care of Hundred, 36-18, Dec. 3 inside the Bob Burton Gymnasium.

Neither team could score until the Hornets’ sophomore Rachel Snedden made the first of two straight buckets 3-minutes into round one to take a 4-0 lead,

However, the Wildcats quickly answered with two straight baskets by Raven Fulks and Tanley McEldowney to break even at 4-4. But after a bucket by the Hornets’ Mahalah Britton and a 2-pointer by the Wildcats’ Abbe Stackpole to knot the score at 6-6 heading into the second period of play.

Fulks scored the games first points in the second stanza to give the Wildcats the lead for good, while Skyler Fulks and McKenzie Thomas both scored off Hundred turnovers to push the Wildcats lead to 14-6.

The Hornets finally scored in the second period on a basket by Addie Tuttle with 2:30 left till halftime. McEldowney scored off an in-bounds pass by Raven to close out the first half, 16-8.

Stackpole and Raven scored back-to-back buckets, before Britton broke the ice with a pair of 2-pointers. However, Raven knocked down a jumper to end the third period and a 30-12 advantage with 1-period to go.

Snedden knocked down the game’s first basket, while Raven followed with a rebound put-back, Stackpole drained 2-straight free throws, while Raven dished an assist to McKenzie Thomas.

Meanwhile, Snedden ripped the cords from downtown for the final points of the game.

Raven led all-scorers with 12-points, while picking up a double-double with 10-rebounds. She added 5-assists and a pair of steals, while McEldowney and Stackpole each tallied 8-points and evenly split a couple assists. Skylar Fulks sank 3-baskets, while Thomas knocked down a deuce for all the Paden City scoring.

Only 3-girls scored for the Hornets with Snedden leading the way with 8-points, including a basket from beyond the arch. Britton scored 7-points and hauled in 10-boards, while Tuttle sank a deuce, while both her and Snedden each making 2-steals. Kaylee Davis failed to score, but she led the Lady Hornets with a baker’s dozen.

The Hornets will play a pair of games Dec. 13-14 in the Harmon tournament, while Paden City will tackle South Harrison Dec. 11 in Paden City, and head to Cameron Dec. 13 and back home against Clay-Battelle Dec. 16.
