Knights end season
The Tyler Consolidated Silver Knight boys basketball team played their last home game of the season last week, getting a win in front of the home crowd.
The Knights played host to the Braxton County Eagles on Feb. 20, defeating the Eagles, 91-70.
The home team got off to a good start, outscoring the visitors by 10, 23-13 in the first period.
Though the Eagles battled back, answering point for point in the second, the Knights were able to hold on for the eventual win.
Freshman Jace Reed led the Silver and Black with 20 points. He also had two rebounds, three assists and two steals in the game.
Kordell Stewart came on strong and contributed 19 points and brought down 12 rebounds and had two steals in the contest.
Senior Dylan Reynolds scored 13 points, had seven rebounds, eight assists and four steals; Chase Cornell scored nine, brought down two rebounds; and had one assist; Blake Carpenter, nine six points, one rebound, one assist; Nathan Heintzman; five points, one rebound, one assist, three steals; Cole Kocher, five points, three rebounds, two assists, three steals; Josh Smith, three points, two rebounds; Dylan Romine, three points; Swen Scheidemantel, three points, 10 rebounds, two assists; Ryan Dalrymple, two points, two rebounds, one assist; John Lancaster, two points, one steal; Noah Garrison, one point, one rebound; Skyler Leasure, one rebound, one assist; and Josh Peck had one assist.
Immediately before the game, the nine seniors on the team were honored for their commitment and hard work.
The Knights played their last regular season game on Feb. 24 at Wirt County.
Sectional Tournaments will begin this week with the Knights to play at Magnolia on Saturday, the opponent and time to be announced later.
In Class A, Region I, Section 2, Clay-Battelle is the first seed with Paden City seeded second.
Sectional winners will go on to the Regionals.
