Three gymnasiums were busy in the all day event featuring area teams from Magnolia, River, and Tyler Consolidated on Saturday July 19.

Kicking off at 8 a.m., the event featured both A and B squads from Tyler Consolidated, as well as teams from River A, B & C, Bellaire, Wheeling Central,and Barnesville. Pool play ran throughout the morning and afternoon as teams vied for early-season bragging rights and a chance to test lineups ahead of the fall campaign.

“Varsity squad played exceptionally well in pool play with a record of winning five sets and only dropping one set to Wheeling Central,” said head coach Chris Bachman That landed them as 5th seed going into the Gold bracket tournament where they finished in 5th place in the Gold Bracket with a hard fought 3 set match loss to Wheeling Central.

The TCHS JV squad also played well in pool play finishing with a record of 5 sets won and 3 sets lost, two of which were against the River Varsity squad. That record qualified them as a 5th seed in the Silver Bracket and they finished 5th in the Silver Bracket with a 2 set loss to Barnesville’s Varsity squad.
