Sistersville Summer League Action
Summer League basketball play in Sistersville.
Summer nights in Sistersville are a lot livelier thanks to a familiar sound echoing through the city park. It’s the bounce of basketballs on pavement. The Sistersville summer league is in its 4th week with eight regular season games left before a seeded double elimination tournament to wrap up the summer league season.
Kevin Yoho took the initiative to bring back the once-beloved Sistersville Summer League, reviving competitive hoops at the outdoor courts. Yoho, who organized six teams, each with 15 players, and games every Monday and Thursday evening at 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30 p.m., is extremely pleased with the turnout and community support.
The return of the summer league is drawing strong crowds to the park, where basketball will be just one part of a busy community hub. The pool copied the summer league schedule, offering night swims under the stars from 7:00 till 10:00 for a mere $2 admission. Throw in pickleball and the new playground and it seems Sistersville Park is the place to be for a memorable summer season.
When asked how the season was going, Kevin said it’s been a strong start. “The season is going great. One squad remains undefeated after the first round of five games. To keep the momentum going a few new players have been added to the rosters to accommodate vacation plans, work commitments and family obligations.”
Kevin also supplied the top scorers from each team:
Black- Aaron Heasley and Mark Rucker; Blue- Grayden McKinney and Justin Bowman; Yellow- Nick Snyder and Shannon Poole; Grey- Braxton Yoho and Jamie Mathis; White-Kason Hoff and Ryan Yoho Purple- Brandon Schamp and DeMarco Smith.
