Wildcats Fall to Lumberjacks in Southern WV Road Swing

By Randy Rutherford - Sports Writer | Apr 30, 2025

The Paden City Wildcats kicked off a two-day road trip through southern West Virginia on Thursday, April 17, squaring off against the Richwood Lumberjacks in a tough matchup that ended in a 12-2 loss for the visiting Wildcats.

The game started with promise as Paden City battled to a 2-2 tie after the first inning. However, the momentum quickly shifted as Richwood took control, scoring in every subsequent frame while holding the Wildcats scoreless the rest of the way.

Despite the final score, senior Kayden Myers turned in a gritty performance on the mound, striking out 11 batters over 3 2/3 innings of work. But the Wildcats’ offense couldn’t find its rhythm, managing just four hits on the day.

Jack Nelson, Jake Billiter, Myers, and Isaiah LaPlante each notched a hit, with LaPlante and Billiter driving in the team’s only runs.

The Wildcats will look to bounce back in their next matchup as they continue their swing through the region, with Webster County next on the schedule.
