In their opening matchup, the Silver Knights faced off against the East Clarendon (SC) Wolverines at Saint James High School. Despite a late offensive spark, Tyler Consolidated fell to the Wolverines by a score of 11-4.

The Silver Knights found their bats in the fourth and sixth innings, accounting for all four of their runs. Brennon Miller led the charge at the plate with a pair of hits, while teammates Reese Davis, Landon Boggs, and Colby Nichols each added to the team’s five-hit effort.

On the mound, freshman Kody Sickles got the start and carried the bulk of the pitching load, tossing four innings with one strikeout and three walks. Brayden Neff and Pierson Hayes each pitched one inning in relief to close out the contest.

Silver Knights Outlast Great Falls in Extra-Inning Thriller at Mingo Bay Classic

In a tense Game Three of the Mingo Bay Classic on Thursday, April 24, the Silver Knights battled Great Falls (SC) in a pitchers’ duel that needed extra innings to determine a winner. After seven hard-fought innings, the game was knotted at 1-1 before the Silver Knights erupted for five runs in the top of the eighth and held on for a 6-2 victory at Waccamaw High School.

Under the tournament’s modified extra-inning rules, each team began the eighth with a runner on third base. The Silver Knights seized the opportunity, stringing together timely hits to break the tie and surge ahead with a five-run inning. Great Falls managed just one run in the bottom half as the Silver Knights secured their second straight win.

Issac Jackson led the offensive charge, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Brayden Neff, Brennon Miller, and Nate Deaton each chipped in with a hit to round out the Knights’ five-hit performance.

The game also marked the much-anticipated return of ace pitcher Reese Davis, who saw his first real action since suffering a shoulder injury during football season. Davis looked sharp in two innings of work, striking out four and allowing just one hit. Brayden Neff took over from there, delivering a dominant six-inning relief performance with 10 strikeouts and only three hits allowed, earning the win on the mound.

Silver Knights Fall to Poland Seminary in Mingo Bay Finale

The Silver Knights wrapped up their run in the Mingo Bay Classic on Friday, April 25, falling to a strong Poland Seminary (Ohio) squad by a final score of 7-2.

Offense was hard to come by for the Knights, who managed just one hit in the contest, a knock off the bat of Gabe Jackson. Poland Seminary’s pitching proved dominant from the start, holding the Silver Knights in check throughout the game.

The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead, plating four runs in the first three innings to take control. They added two more in the fourth and another in the fifth to cap off their scoring. The Silver Knights managed to scratch across runs in the third and fourth innings but couldn’t generate enough offense to close the gap. Coach Rob Jones substituted freely after the first three innings giving all team members experience against a strong opponent. Landon Boggs started the game on the mound for the Knights going two innings striking out two Bulldogs. Pierson Hayes came on in relief for the last five innings. Boggs would suffer the loss on the mound for the Knights.

With the loss, the Knights concluded the tournament with a 2-2 record, showing flashes of promise during the week-long competition.

The team will now return home and look to bounce back on Monday, April 28, when they host Beallsville in a Senior Night matchup.
