Valley Girls Beat Parkersburg Christian 55-25

Visiting Parkersburg Christian found the Valley Lumberjills a tough opponent Friday night in Pine Grove as the home team opened up a 15-7 first quarter lead behind Laken Dawson’ eight points and Michaela Miller’s seven.

The Lumberjills never let up and extended the lead to 31-16 at the halftime break and cruised to the 30 point win.

Dawson scored 12 of her game high 14 in the first half, before playing sparingly in the second. Valley ended with four players in double figures as Miller added 13, Carley Pittman pitched in 12, and Kennedi Dallison had 10. Also scoring was Elynn Derby with a 3-pointer, Kendra Highley added two, and Alexis Highley hit a free throw. Dawson and Miller each had a double-double on the night as they had 11 and 10 rebounds. Dawson also had six steals.

The home town girls held the visitors to three points in the third quarter and six in the fourth while scoring 24 of their own.

Valley hit 19 shots from the floor, including five 3’s and made 12-20 free throws. Parkersburg Christian hit 10 shots from the floor and made 3-6 from the charity stripe. The home team Lumberjills won the rebound battle 34-14 and forced the visitors into 17 turnovers.
