Silver Knights Football Falls to Williamstown

The Tyler Consolidated Silver Knights ran into a buzzsaw on Friday Night September 6 in the form of defending State Champion Williamstown Yellow Jackets and fell by the score of 49-0. The Yellow Jackets were clicking on all cylinders pilling up 437 yards of total offense while holding the Silver Knights below 100 yards. Following a Silver Knight turnover Williamstown took the early lead on a 39 yard run and two point conversion to lead 8-0 after the first quarter. The second quarter saw Williamstown add 24 unanswered points to lead 32-0 at the half. The Knights leading rusher Branson Winfrey was held to just 33 yards on 14 attempts. Likewise the passing combo of Brady Strode to Reese Davis was derailed when Davis left in the second quarter with what appeared to be an ankle injury. The passing attack was held to only 49 yards as Strode completed three passes to Winfrey for 25 yards and one to Brody Giovinazzo for 14 yards. Brady Strode rushed six times for 14 yards.
Defensively for the Knights Brady Strode had four solo tackles and three assists and Branson Winfrey chipped in with four solo tackles and two assists. Gideon Winfrey added three solo tackles and two assists while Nate Deaton had two solo tackles and three assists. Kayden Utt rounded out the defensive stats with three solo tackles and four assists.
The Knights will now have two weeks to regroup with an open date on September 13 before hitting the road on September 20 to take on Petersburg, a new addition to the Knights schedule this year.
