Sean Winfrey Leads the Knights with Six Touchdowns
Silver Knight Defense Ready
The Tyler Consolidated Silver Knights continued their winning streak with an impressive victory over visiting Webster County on Friday night September 15 by the score of 48-18. The Knights jumped out to an early 6-0 lead on a four yard run by Sean Winfrey at the 7:19 mark of the first quarter. Webster would counter with a 75 yard kickoff return to tie the score at six apiece. The tie game would not last long as Brady Strode connected with Sean Winfrey on an 11 yard TD pass with 4:47 to go in the first period. The extra point kick was good by Nate Deaton to give the Knights the lead for good. The Knights last drive of the first quarter saw them again end with a touchdown on a three yard run by Sean Winfrey. Winfrey would also add the two point conversion to end the first quarter with Tyler leading 21-6 and the rout was on.
The second quarter started the same way with Winfrey scoring his fourth touchdown on the evening on a six yard run. The point after was good by Nate Deaton. Webster would get on the board again on another kickoff return this time for 79 yards. The point after failed.
Winfrey would push his touchdown total to six in the first half on two nine yard runs to push the Silver Knights up 41-12 at the break. Tyler would add one more score in the third quarter on a 27 yard pass from Brady Strode to Zade Billings. Deaton would add the extra point to round out the scoring for the Sliver Knights.
The Knights were led by Sean Winfrey who ran for 151 yards on 19 carries and five touchdowns. Winfrey also caught a pass for his sixth touchdown. Brady Strode ran eight times for 45 yards and was 9 for 18 for 131 yards and two touchdowns. Webster County would add a score late in the fourth quarter.
Cayden Hall and Shane Bates led the defense with a combined nine solo tackles and five assists. Overall the defense only allowed two first downs in the first half and held Webster to 102 total yards on the night.
“We played a pretty sound game offensively and defensively. We would like to come out of the gates a little quicker and move the ball on offense early, but that’s just how it goes sometimes,” said Head Coach Kyle Ritz. “When we got the ball rolling our guys did a very good job of keeping momentum on our side even with Webster having some big kick returns. We have to keep growing and bettering ourselves. We have a big matchup to start prepping for, but we are excited for it.”
The Silver Knights will hit the road on Friday, September 22 when they travel to meet the Wirt County Tigers.
