Yeater is flanked by his parents, Jennifer and David Year, along with sister, Mallory. Back row, from left, is assistant track coach Chad West, head track coach Kim Huffman and Paden City principal Jay Salva. His success wasn’t just at the state level though. On May 12, he snapped a 27-year-old Wildcat record with a leap of 21’ 7.5” to win the long jump at the regional championship. Yeater’s jump was extra special because the old mark belonged to none other than his father, David Yeater, who propelled 21’ 2.75” at the Pepsi Invitational at John Marshall High School in 1989. Zach is the son of David and Jennifer Yeater of Paden City, and the grandson of Susan Wade and Gail and Judy Yeater, all of Paden City, and Dennis and Becky McMullen of Cumberland, Ohio. He has three siblings - Mallory, Makenzie, and Zane. Zach carried a 3.1 GPA while in high school. During the season, he also competed in the 4x100-meter relay, 4x400-meter relay and the 200-meter dash. He earned a varsity letter as a member of Paden City’s football and basketball squads.
