Local High School track teams are getting plenty of competition in lately with Invitational’s, Conference meets and the Wetzel Tyler Track League meets all taking place several times a week. Last week Tyler Consolidated’s boys team competed at the Dick Dei Track Classic in Wheeling and placed well in several events, and taking sixth overall as a team at the 18 team competition.

Senior Nate Taylor placed second overall in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.59; second in the 200 meter dash in 23.10; and seventh overall in the 400 meter dash in 53.48.

Also a senior, Aaron Estep placed ninth overall in the 1600 meter relay in 4:53.69; and fifth in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:14.51.

The Knight boys relay teams performed very well at the large meet with the 4×200 team taking third place overall. The 4×100 and 4×800 teams placed eighth and the shuttle hurdle team placed sixth.

Hunter LeMasters, freshman, placed third in the pole vault event with a vault of 11-06.

In the shot put pit, the Knights James Jones put the shot 41-03 to take ninth place, and Drew Casey took 17th with a distance of 38-03.

At the WTTL meet on April 13 both Tyler Consolidated and Paden City athletes fared very well.

The Lady Knights placed first overall in the team competition with 103 points followed by River with 79; Magnolia, 51 and Paden City, 34.
