Judith Ann (Huffman) Cochran
Judith Ann (Huffman) Cochran, 84, of Paden City passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, in Elmore, Ohio, surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in New Martinsville on June 27, 1940, Judy was the daughter of the late Lester Glenn Sleep Huffman and Ann Ford Huffman. She was also the beloved wife of the late Gary Lee Cochran, her high school sweetheart, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage after their union on September 19, 1959. Judy also was preceded in death by her baby sister Clarinda Jill Huffman, brother and sister-in-law Dr. Bill (Rose Ann) Huffman, granddaughter Alisa Lee Jackson, daughter-in-law Johnna Fitzpatrick Cochran, and son-in-law Mike Carpenter. Judy is survived by her children Lisa
(Tim) Jackson of Middlebourne, West Virginia; Leslie Carpenter of Elmore; Lee Cochran of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; Len (Carla) Cochran of Humble, Texas; and London (Lee Taylor) Cochran of Bellaire,
Ohio. She was proud to be mama to 19 grandchildren Amanda, Luke, Ashley, Trey, Tyler, Michael, Chelisa, Ridge, Taylor T-Bird, Olivia, Emily, Nick, Dylan, Sydney, Paige, Graham, Grant, Maddy, and Bryar, and many great-grandchildren. Judy is also survived by her twin brother Jan (Janet) Huffman, brothers Joe (Linda) Huffman and J. Ford Huffman, and several nieces and nephews.
Judy’s life was a testament to love, faith, and resilience. A 1958 graduate of Paden City High School, she was deeply connected to her hometown and played an instrumental role in efforts to keep her beloved school open. She was a dedicated member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Sistersville, where she participated in the Ladies Guild. Known for her vibrant and often feisty
spirit, Judy found joy in life’s simple pleasures: long walks, tending to her yard, and spending time with her family. Her warmth and affection earned her the endearing title of mama and she
will always be remembered for her heartfelt parting words, I love you more. A funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 25, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Judy will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Paden Memorial Gardens in Paden City. Memorial contributions may be made, in Judy’s name, to the charity of donor’s choice.
