TCHS Jazz Band Rated Superior
The Knights Jazz Band participated in the Northern Regional West Virginia Jazz Band Festival on February 26th, at University High School in Morgantown. This was the first time in many years that the jazz band participated in this event. Their outstanding musicianship was recognized by the judges, earning them a superior rating for their performance. Selections performed by the jazz band included: One Note Samba (Antonio Carlos Jobim, arr. Jerry Nowak); A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square (Manning Sherwin, arr. Roger Holmes), and Jumpin’ Jack Jive (Carl Strommen). Jazz Band members are: Gwen Jacenkiw, Ava Gorrell, Sydney Deaton (alto saxophone); Carlee Dye, Autumn Shepherd, Katie Ash (tenor saxophone); Kellen Franks (baritone saxophone); Shauna Riggs, Makenzie Hakes, Kaci Shanabarger, Aiden Swan, Luke Deaton, Selene Holcomb, Ayden Hoover, Jesse Griffith, Peyton Hayes, Abbi Kimble, Caramia McCoy (trombone); Harley Yeater (bass); Kaylee Haught (piano); Garrett Freeland (drum set) Madeline Cecil and Zayd Al-Janaby (rhythm)
