Tyler Commissioners Approve Several Items

The Tyler County Commission met in regular session on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 9 a.m. in the courthouse chambers. Following the Pledge of Allegiance led by Commission President Mike Smith and Prayer by Commissioner Eric Vincent the minutes of the September 14, 2021 meeting were approved. Also approved were the Exonerations from Tyler County Assessor Lisa Jackson and the Fiduciary Report from County Clerk Neil A. Archer II.

Commissioner Mike Smith then read a letter from the Solid Waste Authority appointing Joe Henthorn to their Board of Directors with a term to expire on June 30, 2023. The Commissioners agreed with the appointment and approved.

Moving on the commissioners heard a cost change request from McKinley Architecture regarding the placement of overhead electric in the new Judicial Building at a cost of $37,341. The commissioners approved the request since it falls in the contingency allowance for the project.

Sheriff Brian Weigle then asked the commissioners for approval to pay an invoice in the amount of $1,805 for a GPS tracking update system from 3G to 4G.

The request was approved.

The Sheriff went on to point out that with the hiring of Joe Lederberger from the Sistersville Police Department, the city of Sistersville was requesting reimbursement for expenses they incurred when sending Joe to the police academy and supplying him with uniforms and equipment. The amount of the reimbursement totaled $4,486.65 which the commissioners approved.

Canon Fancher from WYK Associates approached the commissioners regarding asbestos testing for the courthouse and jail that needed to be completed before work could begin. The testing would require drawing 150 samples with a timeline of 45 days to complete the testing. Mr. Francher said they were ready to start and were waiting on needed approval.

The cost of the testing is $7,500. The commissioners approved the request.

Finally, under Correspondence, Commission President Mike Smith read a letter from the Tyler/Wetzel Chamber of Commerce thanking the commissioners for the help and contribution to the First Responders celebration. The letter stated that the chamber was able to provide over 472 meals to first responders and front line workers.

After the the approval to pay the bills the meeting was adjourned. The next scheduled meeting of the Tyler County Commissioners is October 12, 2021 at 9AM in the courthouse chambers.
