Curtis Romine

Tyler Consolidated High School will hold a commencement ceremony to honor 107 graduates of the Class of 2010 at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 28 in the gymnasium.

As tradition, the school has named two valedictorians and a salutatorian to represent the class. The valedictorians for this year are Curtis Romine and Chelsea Wells; the salutatorian will be Dorman “Rusty” Lemasters.

Curtis Paul Romine is the son of Mindy Howard and Rocky Romine of Sistersville.

He has been a member of the school’s soccer team for four years, during which he lettered three times. He has also been a member of the school’s chamber choir, fitness club, student leadership team, and the HI-Y club.

In his spare time, Curtis enjoys associating with friends, playing sports, and playing the piano.

Chelsea Wells

Curtis is an aspiring pharmacist who will be attending WVU this fall.

Chelsea Wells is the daughter of Mike and Jan Wells of Sistersville.

Her honors and activities include being a National Merit Scholar finalist, a member of the National Honor Society, NHS Community Service Secretary, Exemplary Character Award, track, cross country, chamber choir, Tyler FFA, raising grand champion and reserve grand champion hams, earning first place individual at the State Career Development event in the Dairy Products category, OCVAC All Conference Academic Team, American Legion Rhododendron Girls State and Governor’s Honor Academy.

Some of her community service activities include attending the West Virginia Sheriff’s Youth Leadership Academy as a junior counselor, prelude pianist, nursery attendant and Vacation Bible School volunteer at the Sistersville First Baptist Church, Saturday Recess, assisting at TCHS/MS athletic events, Adopt-A-Highway and the Olive Branch Animal Refuge and Rescue.

Chelsea plans to attend West Virginia University Honors College this fall, majoring in Animal and Nutritional Science before completing her education at a school of Veterinary Medicine to fulfill her life-long dream of becoming a veterinarian.

Dorman “Rusty” Lemasters

Dorman “Rusty” Lemasters, the son of Daniel and Janine Lemasters, has been named Salutatorian of the 2010 graduating class of Tyler Consolidated High School.

Rusty’s honors and activities include marching band, where he was co-captain of the drum line and captain of the loading crew, and the track team, where he threw shot and discus.

He has maintained a 4.0 average since kindergarten and has lettered in track, marching band, and academics.

Rusty is also an active Boy Scout. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout in February of 2009, and has also earned two Eagle Palms, which are awarded for every five additional merit badges earned beyond Eagle Scout.

Rusty enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing video games, and playing “Magic the Gathering”.

Rusty is pursuing a degree in computer science at Denver University in Colorado.
