Help Sought To Keep Summer Fun Afloat at the Sistersville Pool

By Staff | May 7, 2025

The Sistersville Pool is gearing up for another swimming season.

For more than 75 years, the Sistersville Pool has been a summertime staple, offering a safe, supervised, and family-friendly place for children and residents to cool off during hot afternoons. But as operating costs continue to rise, keeping this cherished community resource open each summer is becoming more challenging.

In response, the City of Sistersville and the Friends of the Sistersville Park and Pool, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, are reaching out to the public for support. They’re asking residents, businesses, and supporters of the pool to consider making a tax-deductible donation to help cover critical expenses and keep the facility open for future generations.

“This pool is more than just a place to swim — it’s a place where memories are made, skills are learned, and our community comes together,” said Mary Ann Rutherford, Park and Pool Board President. “Every donation, large or small, helps make that possible.”

The suggested Donation Levels are:

$1,000 – Park and Pool Gold Sponsor: Covers the cost of four required Red Cross Lifeguard Certification classes. On average, the pool trains 10 new lifeguards each summer.

$500 – Park and Pool Silver Sponsor: Covers the cost of one free community day, allowing all guests to enjoy the pool with no admission fee.

$100 – Park and Pool Bronze Sponsor: Helps purchase an aluminum chase lounge chair for the pool deck or covers costs for four children to participate in the “Swim with a Guard” beginner swim class.

All contributions are welcome, regardless of amount. Donors will be recognized on a sign at the entrance to the pool to honor their generosity and commitment to the community.

Checks can be made payable to Friends of the Sistersville Park and Pool, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. For more information or questions, please contact the City of Sistersville at 304-652-6361.

Let’s work together to make this summer another unforgettable one at the Sistersville Pool.
