Sistersville VFW to Hold Day of Service

By Randy Rutherford - Staff Writer | Mar 19, 2025

The current bleachers are to be replaced.

Sistersville VFW Post 6327 will take part in the annual VFW Day of Service on Saturday, May 3, 2025, joining VFW posts across the country in a day of giving back to the community.

This year’s projects will focus on much needed renovations at the Sistersville Park ball field and Veterans Park on Riverside Drive. The main ball field at the park will receive a significant facelift thanks to the VFW efforts. Post 6327 has generously donated the funds to install new bleachers at the field which are expected to be in place by the time of the event. On May 3rd volunteers will tackle additional improvements including painting and reroofing the dugouts and repainting the fence surrounding the field.

In addition the VFW plans to partner with an outside company to resurface the infield and address water drainage issues that have affected the field’s playability. Veterans park will also see some improvements as part of the event. Volunteers will work to repair and restore the park’s gazebo, helping to maintain it as a welcoming spot for the community.

To show appreciation for volunteers and community members who stop by to lend a hand, the VFW will provide free hamburgers and hot dogs throughout the day.

More details will be announced as the event approaches, but for now mark your calendar for Saturday, May 3rd, and consider stopping by to lend a helping hand or simply to say hello. Sistersville VFW Post 6327 remains committed to the spirit of service and community under the banner of #STILL SERVING.
