Planning Commission Preparing for Picnic In The Park

By Randy Rutherford - Staff Writer | Mar 19, 2025

Children enjoy a swings carnival ride during Picnic in the Park. The Planning Commission is gearing up for this year's event.

Spring is here, and with warmer weather comes thoughts of summer activities. The Sistersville Planning Commission is already hard at work preparing for the Annual Picnic In the Park scheduled for Sunday, July 6, 2025.

The popular event draws hundreds of residents from Sistersville and neighboring communities each year, and this summer’s picnic promises to be bigger and better than ever. In addition to the traditional fireworks and kiddie rides, the Commission is adding rides for adults to make the event enjoyable for all ages.

However, these festivities come at a cost. The total expense for fireworks and rides is expected to reach approximately $9200. To help cover the costs and keep the tradition alive, the Planning Commission is seeking donations from the community. Contributions can be mailed too the City of Sistersville, 200 Diamond St., Sistersville, West Virginia, 26175. Checks should be made payable to the city of Sistersville. Any amount is greatly appreciated and will help ensure another successful Picnic In the Park.

With the addition of adult rides and the always popular fireworks display, this year’s event is shaping up to be a memorable one. Mark your calendar for July 6 and get ready for a fun-filled day in Sistersville!
