Oil and Gas Man of the Year 2024

The Board of Directors of the 56th Annual West Virginia Oil and Gas Festival selected Lloyd Jackson II as the 2024 West Virginia Oil and Gas Person of the Year. During the Oil and Gas festival, which ran from September 12th through the 14th, Mr. Jackson was honored at a special dinner held on Friday, September 13th at the Sistersville Volunteer Fire Department Hall, and served as Parade Marshall for the Grand Oil and Gas Trophy Parade on Saturday.

Mr. Jackson of Hamlin, West Virginia, is an attorney and businessman whose family has been involved in the oil and natural gas industry for over 100 years. He and his father, Lloyd Jackson, Sr., operated Jackson Gas Company and other associated production and service companies. Lloyd was educated in the public schools of West Virginia and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from West Virginia University in 1974 with a degree in political science. Lloyd later attended West Virginia University College of Law where he served as Editor-In-Chief of the Law Review and from where he graduated order of the Coif in 1977. He served as prosecuting attorney of Lincoln County for six years and as a state senator for 12 years where he chaired the Judiciary and Education Committees. During his legislative service, Lloyd is best known for his writing of the PROMISE Scholarship legislation and the Comprehensive Early Childhood Legislation. He currently serves as a Senior Trustee of the Claude Worthington Bendum Foundation. He also serves as Director Emeritus of the Gas and Oil Association of West Virginia and as an Advisory Committee member of the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences of West Virginia in Charleston. Lloyd formerly served as a Trustee of West Virginia Wesleyan College, as a Director of The West Virginia Oil and Natural Gas Association, as President of the Energize West Virginia and as a Director of the College Summit. Lloyd is a member of the Hamlin United Methodist Church in Hamlin, WV where he resides with his wife, Trina. He has two sons, L.G. and Ryan.
