Tyler County High School Holds Annual Band Camp

The Tyler County High School marching band goes through drills during band camp.
The award winning Tyler County High School marching band followed other local sports teams in vigorous summer training in anticipation of the 2024 season.
Under the guidance of Matt Jennings, the band camp focused on perfecting intricate formations and musical selections that will be performed at halftime shows.
The TCHS Silver Knights Marching Band held their camp at the school from July 22-27. Camp staff included Wayne Smith (TCHS former director), Cindy Smith, Mark Hardman (retired director at George Washington High School, who worked camps at Tyler Consolidated in the 1990s), Mikayla Shamblen and assistant directors Robert Shamblen and Phaedra Shamblen.
“The band has worked very hard and done a fantastic job this week. They had all their drills on Friday. The progress of this group in a week’s time has been phenomenal. I’m extremely proud of the work ethic and commitment to excellence,” shared TCHS Band Director Matt Jennings.
The Silver Knights Marching Band is just as much anticipated by the hometown following as the Silver Knights football team. Some people call it “Marching Band Season!” Whatever you call it, we are all anxiously awaiting the start of fall sports here in Tyler County!
