Tyler County 4H Camp is Back
After a two-year hiatus from traditional camping, thousands of youths in West Virginia will pack their bags and head to 4-H camp this summer. Tyler County on the Road at WVU Jackson’s Mill 4-H camp will take place on July 5-7 at WVU Jackson’s Mill, Weston WV and is open to students ages 9-21 years. County camps provide 4-Háers with valuable learning opportunities and help them develop skills in leadership, problem solving and creativity, among many others.
â4-H camp allows youths to build positive relationships with others, practice independence, gain leadership experience, become resourceful and many other crucial life skills,ã said 4-H Youth Development Program Director Brent Clark. Campers also engage in a variety of activities, ranging from archery and STEM programming to art and dancing, while forging lifelong friendships.
For more than a century, 4-H has focused on agricultural science, electricity, mechanics, entrepreneurship and natural sciences. Today, out-of-school opportunities also exist in subjects like rocketry, robotics, biofuels, renewable energy and computer science.
