James F. “Jim” Boley
James F. “Jim” Boley, 73, Friendly, WV, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at his residence surrounded by family and friends. Born in St. Marys, WV, on December 10, 1951, he was the son of the late Arthur “Perry” and Garnet Pethel Boley. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Vietnam and was a US. Navy Veteran where he served aboard the U.S. Nimitz. He attended George Street Church of Christ and attended Little United Methodist Church. He worked at Sistersville Tank Works and also did tree trimming and removal. He loved working whether it was mowing, landscaping, or woodworking. Jim enjoyed sitting on the porch visiting with friends, drinking coffee and watching the wildlife. He was a member of the Tyler Rod and Gun Club and the Middlebourne IOOF #69. He was a two-time stage 4 cancer survivor.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sarah Thomas Boley; three sons, Caleb Boley, Jeremiah Boley, and Matthew (Rebecca) Boley; one daughter, Christy Cupp; two brothers, Charles (Jane) Boley, and Lex (Joan) Boley; one sister, Marian Jewell; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Claude “Buck” Lamp, and Moses Boley; and three sisters, Sarah Hendershot, Rosalea Boley, and Leota Payne.
Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 21, 2025, at Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, WV with the Rev. Malcom Detwiler officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery, Sistersville, WV. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Sunday and from 10 to 11 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.
