TCHS Archery Team Hits 3000 Point Goal
On January 27th the Archers of Tyler Consolidated High School made the trip to compete at hosting Cameron High School in their tournament consisting of 28 schools with over 300 registered archers. With their 3000 team point goal in mind the plan was simple, keep the arrows in the center of the target. The Knights Archers were 27 strong in attendance and were definitely up for the challenge. After all the flights, the scores were tallied, and the TCHS Knights came away with a second-place team finish with Briar Utt securing a 4th place individual in high school boys.
This alone was a tremendous accomplishment but Knight Archers also were able to not only reach but surpass their 3000-point goal. The total team score was 3056 points which makes the 2023-24 Archery Team the Highest Scoring Team in School History. The top twelve archers pictured were Briar Utt (273) Gunner Weekly (266) Peyton Headley (263) Beau Thomas (262) John Throckmorton (259) Aaron Goff (258) Nikki Stoller (254) Walker Ramsey (254) Nick Wince (251) Aaliyah Pittman (243) Mackenzie Henthorn (237) Lilly Thompson (236).
The team’s next tournament will be at Magnolia High School on February 10th. Both coaches and team members would like to thank everyone for all the continued support which is much needed as they begin working on their next goal of a qualifying score for WV States.
