Tyler Commissioners Hear Light Agenda
The Tyler County Commission met in regular session on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at 9 a.m. in the Chambers of the Courthouse in Middlebourne. Following the Pledge of Allegiance led by Mike Smith and the prayer led by Eric Vincent, the commissioners approved the minutes from the November 9, 2021, meeting. Also approved was the Fiduciary report from County Clerk Neil A. Archer and the Exonerations from Assessor Lisa Jackson.
Commission President Mike Smith started the meeting asking the Commissioners for approval of the maintenance agreement with Gen Shield, LLC for the generator at the Sheriff’s Office.
Commissioners approved a two-year contract for maintenance for a total of $374.
Commissioner Smith then asked for approval for reimbursement for telephone services for the Tyler County Magistrates. Approved was $641.88 for Magistrate Mary Dotson and $642.92 for Magistrate Michael Griffin.
Commissioner Smith was also seeking approval for the GST Cyber Vulnerability Scanning System. It was explained that the scanning system is in addition to the existing firewall which adds another layer of protection to the courthouse computer systems. The process is a quarterly scan at a price of $1,320 a year. Commissioners approved the request.
Tom Cooper, OEM Director, asked permission to purchase a Fork Truck. Tom shared that new trucks were 9 to 10 months out for delivery, but he was able to find one for sale in Parkersburg for $6,200, minus a $500 trade in for their existing fork truck. Commissioners approved the purchase.
Under Public Comment, Sheriff Brian Weigle received a phone call explaining there were four lots available for sale for $10,000 behind the Sheriff’s Office. He said this area could be used as an impound area or storage area. Commissioners asked that the discussion be placed on the next agenda.
Also under Public Comment Mary Jo Guidi, from Senator Joe Manchin’s office, introduced Roseann Ferro as her replacement as Regional Coordinator. Mary Jo will be taking a new position with Senator Manchin with the title of Senior Status. She went on to explain that Regional Coordinator will now be able to visit different counties on a regular basis. Their travel was limited for the past two years due to the pandemic.
Following the approval to pay the bills the meeting was adjourned. The next scheduled meeting of the Tyler County Commission will be December 14. 2021.
