Letter to Editor, 2

By Ed Parsons - Editor | Dec 31, 2025

One of the two major Christian Holidays was celebrated last week on December 25th, in remembrance of the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In the old testament alone, there were over 400 prophecies of the coming of the son of the true and living God. In Isaiah 7-14, “Therefore the Lord will give you a sign, a virgin will conceive and give birth to a son and we”ll call him Immanuel.” 740BC-685BC. If you believe in God’s holy written Word you have to be truly amazed of Christs’ coming into this world.

It is believed that Jesus was born in the years, 6-4 BC in Bethlehem, in Judea, to Mary, who was a virgin and her husband Joseph, and she was from the tribe of Judah. Christ Mass was originally established in 336 A.D. by Constantine, the original date was changed to the present date, because it was originally established on a pagan holiday January 6, and changed to the present date which was almost 1700 years ago.

In the religious world that date is really insignificant because it is believed that Jesus was actually born in the month of September, and the Bible that we believe in has not really given a command that sets aside this day to worship, but lets’ s face it, without his birth, life, death and resurrection, there would certainly be no purpose in this holiday in remembrance of his birth. I Co. 15v16-18, “If the dead are not raised, neither has Christ been raised, and if Christ is not raised your faith is in vain.” It is certainly because of our faith that we must always believe in these four parts of Jesus’ life.

It is important that if you as Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus and certainly his death, burial, and resurrection, on the holiday of Easter, that you will remember one thing, there are 365 days in a year, in which we need to commit our lives to the blessing that God has given us, and his name is Jesus.

If you call yourself a Christian, Christmas and Easter are not the only days of the year you need to commit your life to Christ. It is truly a daily walk, in which as Christians we must strive to walk the straight and narrow path that leads to salvation.

I certainly wish all of you who celebrate these two holidays to never put them aside, and enjoy the time you will be spending visiting your families.

In the end God please bless us, Larry Ritz, New Martinsville
