New Martinsville Pitcher Gets the Out at First

The Riverfront Athletic Association, which serves youth athletes in the Sistersville and Paden City communities, held its regular monthly meeting Wednesday, May 27, at the Sistersville City Building.

The meeting, which is open to the public, focused on several important topics including upcoming nominations for association offices, the success of the current Little League baseball season, and plans for participation in the 58th annual West Virginia Oil and Gas Festival scheduled for Sept. 16-19 at Sistersville Park.

Association members reflected on what has been a strong and positive season for area youth baseball programs, with teams enjoying success on the field and community support throughout the spring season.

Riverfront Athletic Association continues to play an important role in developing youth athletics in the Sistersville and Paden City area by organizing team sports opportunities for junior athletes. The program depends heavily on dedicated volunteer coaches, supportive families, local businesses and community residents who help make each season possible.

Leaders expressed appreciation to the many volunteers, parents, players and supporters whose efforts contribute to the organization’s continued success.

With baseball season progressing well and community events on the horizon, Riverfront officials say it has been a rewarding season so far and look forward to continuing to provide opportunities for local youth athletes both on and off the playing field.

In recent action the Riverfront Team defeated the New Martinsville Bears 10-9. With all of the rain over the past several weeks, coaches worked hard to prepare the field prior to the game. In other Riverfront successes, the 12U team is undefeated.
