Lady Knights Escape with One Run Victory
The Lady Knights traveled to take on the Valley Lumberjills on Tuesday, May 5 and came home with a close 10-9 victory. With the game tied 1-1 after the first inning Valley exploded for five runs in the bottom of the second and appeared on their way to the win. The Lady Knights would add one run in the third while Valley answered with two more in the bottom of the third to extend their lead to 8-2. Not to be outdone the Knights added one more in the fifth, five in the sixth and two in the seventh. Valley was ready for the comeback in the bottom of the seventh scoring one run and had the tying run on base until the Knights ended the threat and pulled out the victory. Isabella Pratt was strong for the Knights pitching the distance for the win and helping herself at the plate going three for four with one RBI. Holly Johnson, Faith Lemasters, Makayla Farrell, and Rylee Butler would each add two hits to the 13 hit attack for the Lady Knights. Six other Knights would add to the hit total with one hit apiece.
The Lady Knights will now enter regional play on Monday, May 11 with a road trip to Doddridge.
