Tyler Consolidated picked up a 9-7 win over Magnolia on Friday May 1, on the Silver Knights field in a game that was delayed due to darkness on Monday April 27, in New Martinsville.

On Monday the game was tied at 7-7 with two men on and two outs in the bottom of the 10th when the game was called. It was to be finished on Wednesday, but weather set it back until Friday at Tyler Consolidated as a prelude to another regular scheduled game between the two teams.

Magnolia got the last out on Tyler to finish up the 10th inning and neither team scored in the 11th.

The Knights held Tyler in the top of the 12th before Reese Davis cracked a two run homer in the bottom of the inning to give the Knights the walk-off win.

On Monday the Knights took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first and added another in the third, but Magnolia scored three in the fourth to tie it up. The Knights added two runs in the fifth and another in the sixth to go up 6-3. The Blue Eagles plated three in the bottom of the sixth to make it 6-6. The game went to extra innings and both team scored in the 10th setting up Friday’s finish.

Davis picked up the win on the mound for the Silver Knights going eight innings giving up three runs (one earned), four hits, seven walks, and striking out 11 batters. Brenden Miller threw 3.2 innings and Brayden Neff .1.

Ian Hedrick took the loss for the young Blue Eagles giving up six hits, three runs, one walk, and striking out eight batters over 4.0 innings. Trey Satow threw 4.2 innings giving up five runs (four earned), seven hits, two walks, and striking out four. Brayden Byers went 3.1 innings giving up three hits, one run, two walks, and struck out two.

Davis also had a double for the Knights, scored twice, and knocked in three runs. Gage Shortridge came up big with a home run, two singles, four RBI’s, while scoring twice. Neff added four hits and crossed the plate five times. Landon Boggs added three hits and an RBI. The Knights ended with six errors in the game.

Conner Carpenter led the Blue Eagles at the plate with a hit, an RBI, and a run scored. L. Day added a hit and two RBI’s.

The Eagles didn’t commit any errors, but gave up 16 total hits, including two home runs.
