Paden City Volleyball Falls To Ritchie County In Straight Sets

Visiting Ritchie County made short work of Paden City on Tuesday, September 29, at Bob Burton Gymnasium as they claimed the win in three straight sets 25-22, 25-9, and 25-10, to drop the Wildcats to drop the Wildcats to 4-12 on the season.

Paden City played well in set one, but the talented Rebels overpowered the Cats in the next two sets to get the victory.

Leading the way for Paden City was Madi Kline with 13 points including two aces, plus one kill, and four digs. Brandis Dalrymple added five kills, one point, and one dig, plus a block. Madylyn Still came up with three kills, two blocks and a dig.

Rayna Smith had two kills, four points and a dig. Carlee Sweeney got nine points including an ace, a kill, two digs and four assists. Mckenzie Thomas hit for two kills, four points, two digs, and seven assists. Alyssa Phillips got four points and six digs.

Wildcats take down

River in Five Sets

Visiting Paden City made the cross river trip to Hannibal on Monday, September 27, for a matchup with the River Pilots in girls volleyball. There was plenty of action on the night as the two teams battled back and forth before the Wildcats got the win winning set five 15-11. Set one was all Paden City as the Cats crusied to an easy 25-10 win, but the Pilots regrouped in the second set and got the win in overtime 26-28.

Paden City took set three by a score of 25-19, but River bounched right back to capture set four 22-25. Set five was the match deciding set with River taking a quick 3-0 lead before the Wildcats went on a scoring spree to lead 9-3.

After brabbing a point on a service error, River added two more on service points to make it 9-6. Paden City scored on a turnover and a service point to go up 11-6. River then rallied four four points to make it 11-10. Paden City scored three points and then won on a service error to secure the victory.

Leading the way for the Wildcats was Brandis Dalrymple who had 14 points including five aces, 11 kils, three assists and six digs, to fill the stat sheet. McKensie Thomas added 10 points with five aces, five kills, 19 asists, and 11 digs. Carlee Sweeney served up 14 points including three aces, while providing 16 assists, and five digs. Madi Kline added 12 points with two aces, six kills, plus two digs and two assists.

Alyssa Phillips ended the night on a positive note scoring 15 service points including five aces, while also getting 13 digs. Mady Still added seven kills around the net, four blocks, and two digs. Rayna Smith got three assists, and six digs, while Haley Walton added two kills.

River was led by Hannah Raper with 14 kills and seven aces from the service line. Rilyn Haught added 11 kills and 16 digs, while Kyra Cisar got 11 digs and Chloe Honeycutt had four kills. Paige Barkes added six service aces.
