Cross Country Runners Compete at Ritchie County Invitational
Ritchie County held their annual invitational cross country meet on Saturday, October 2, at North Bens state park. Tyler Consolidated, Magnolia high school, and Paden City high school all had participants.
With 21 schools and 89 runners taking part Wheeling Central had the top individual runner with Aidan Scott finishing the tough course with a time of 16:51.8.
Tyler Consolidate had two runners finish in the top 10 with Hagen Baker coming in fifth with a time of 17:53.6. Teammate Jaden Ebert grabbed the seventh place spot with a time of 18:16.1. The Knights Mason Nichols came in 55 with a time of 22.55.2. Also for the Silver Knights was Haydon Ammons who got the 65th spot with a time of 23:55.3.
Magnolia had six runner place in the race with Lucas Zombotti getting 11th place in a time of 19:03.9 and Brady Renner coming in 12th with a time of 19:07.8. Also from Magnolia was freshman Landen Davis who got 26th with a time of 19:51.3. Shiv Patel a sophomore came in at 51 with a time of 22:19.7, he was followed by the Blue Eagles Herberth Hernandez who crossed the line at 28:06.7, and Austin Beverlin who came in at 29:56.3.
Paden City’s lone runner was senior Branden Hizer who crossed the finish line in a time of 19:44.6 to grab the 25th spot.
The Silver Knights traveled to Grafton on September 25, for the West Taylor Bearcat Invitational cross country meet.
With 101 boys running in the high school event and 11 teams placing, the Knights finished ninth as a team and had two runners finish in the top 20. Taking 12th place was senior Hagen Baker who ran the 5k course in a time of 17:52.00. Freshman Jaden Ebert came in 18th with a time of 18:18.00. Charlie Smoak of Elkins was the individual winner with a blazing time of 16:23.
Freshman Hayden Ammons was the next Silver Knight across the line with a time of 23:53 followed by junior runner Mason Nichols with a time of 23:54. East Fairmont was the team winner with a point total of 48.
In the girls race Doddridge County had the top individual runner with Alexis Lamb winning with a time of 18:37. The first Silver Knight to cross the finish line was junior runner Emily Ebert who came in with a time of 22:59.00 for 30th place. The Knights also had junior Trinity Kanz finish in a time of 24:39. She was followed by teammates Anna Volmer with a time of 24:43.00, Kashia Brown with a 27:46, and Kate Gorrell with a 27:51. Doddridge County won the event with a team point total of 46. There were 98 individual runners in the meet. As a team the Knights finished ninth out of 11 teams placing.
Middle School Results showed eight teams placing and 81 runners in the boys division. Tyler Consolidated finished as the fourth place team, however they had the first place overall individual finisher as Amos Kimble outraced the entire field with a time of 10:59. Kimble was the only runner in the event to break the 11 minute mark.
The Knights also got a top 10 finish from seventh grager Travis Moore who ran a 12:15 time respectively. Kellan Dalrymple also ran a good race as he finished in the top 20 with a 17th place finish time of 12:46. Xavier Kanz added points to the Knights scoreboard with a 34th place finish in a time of 13:37.00. Jacob Keller ran a 15:22.00 and Malakhi Davis came in right behind with a 15:25. Liam Conner fnished in 18:46.00 and Griffin Glover crossed the line in 18:55.00, to round out the scoring for the Knights.
The Middle school girls got a big time race from their entire team to take first place and win the team event with a total of 42 points to beat out second place Elkins who finished with 60 points.
The Silver Knights also had the second place individual runner with Makenna Martin crossing the finish line with a time of 12:48 right behind Elkins Middle school runner Julia Biola who ran a 12:46.00.
The Knights took the seventh place spot as well as Maddy Cox ran a 13:29. Lili Dillaman gave the Silver Knights another top 10 spot as she finished 10th with a time of 13:55.00. Andi Fiber took 13th with a time of 14:25.00, while Camryn Westbrook came in 16th with a 14:37. Lily Haught crossed the line at 22nd with a good time of 15:12.00, and Jahna Brown was 36th with a time of 16:26.00.
Olivia Roberts came in with a time of 18:17.00, Heaven Pittman crossed at 22:09.00 and Zoe Fisher came in at 28:55.00. The Silver Knights used a team effort to get the win as they continue to impress at each meet.
