Silver Knights Face Tough Road Opener
Tyler Consolidated opened their season on Friday night August 27, traveling to Ritchie County but came home on the short end by the score of 38-12.
Ritchie took an early lead but the Silver Knights battled back to close the score to 8-6 just prior to halftime. With 1:30 to go in the first half Ritchie County went on a 40 yard drive that resulted in a score with no time left on the clock. The two point conversion failed and the score at halftime was 14-6 in favor of the Rebels.
Caleb Strode got the Knights on the scoreboard in the 2nd quarter taking a pass from Trenton Huffman for 9 yards and a touchdown. The two point conversion failed. Ritchie out gained the Knights on the ground rushing for 277 yards to Tyler’s 144.
Total yards went to the Rebels 323 to 193 yards. Leading rusher for the Silver Knights was Sean Winfrey with 129 yards on 14 attempts highlighted by a 50 yard run in the 4th quarter for a touchdown. Gus Morrison led the way for Ritchie rushing for 101 yards.
The Silver Knights will have to wait till next week to pick up their first win of the season when they face off with Doddridge County at Home on Friday, Sept. 3, at 7 p.m.
