Runners battle Heat at Stormin’ the Castle 2021
Thursday evening at Tyler Consolidated High School runners from seven schools took part in the annual cross country meet that takes participants over the hills and through the woods in one of the toughest courses in the valley.
In the Boys Division Doddridge County had the first runner across the finish line as Trent Gola took first place with a time of 20:07.20.Grabbing second place was Silver Knight Haygen Baker who finished second overall with a time of 20:30.70. Magnolia freshman runner Lucas Zombotti finished in ninth place with a time of 24:50.70, he was followed by junior Brandon Hizer of Paden City who finished with a time of 25:08.60 11th.
Senior Lanen Davis of Magnolia grabbed the 12th spot with a time of 25:16.20. The next local runner was TCHS freshman Haydon Ammons with a time of 31:38.40 to finish 19th overall.
Team Winners were Ritchie County first place with a team score of 22 points. Doddridge County was second with 16 points.
Six teams competed in the girls division with 18 runner from the six schools. Finishing as the top runner in the meet was Doddridge County junior Alexis Lamb who covered the distance in 23:37.10. She was followed by three of her teammates who grabbed the next three spots. Ritchie County runner Chesnee Williams was fifth in a time of 27:14.70.
Senior Rachel Snedden of Hundred covered the course in 27:27.80 good for sixth place. The first area runner to cross the line was Paden City freshmanLexi Mathis in a time of 28:03.10.
TCHS junior Trinity Kanz came in 12th with a time of 28:49.20. She was followed by Silver Knights junior Kashia Brown who was 16th covering the course in a time of 33:08.60. Knights senior Kate Gorrell was 17th with a time of 34:20.20. Doddridge County won the event as a team with a score of 16 beating out Ritchie with a score of 43.

Middle School Boys results for the Stormin’ the Castle 3K cross country run Tyler Consolidated picked up the first place individual award as eighth grader Amos Kimble beat out the field in a time of 13:22.80. Doddridge County claimed the second through sixth places and Silver Knight seventh grade runner Kellan Dalrymple finished seventh to add points for the Knights with a time of 15:47.70.
Seventh grader Travis Moore ran a 15:55.90 for the Knights to get ninth place. Paden City eighth grader Riley Dennis finished 15th in a time of 16:43.90. Coming in 21st was TCMS sixth grader Xavier Kanz with a time of 18:08.10.Knights sixth graders Malakhi Davis and Jacob Kellerfinished 29th and 30th to secure points for the Knights with times of 20:06.20 and 21:07.20.
Also finishing for the Silver Knights were seventh grader Caleb Gist with a 23:28.20, sixth grader Griffin Glover with a 25:14.20 and sixth grader Liam Conner with a time of 27:38.80. 39 runners took part in the race from seven shools.Finishing as the top team was Doddridge County with 20 points, while Tyler Consolidated finish as the second place team with 59 points. Pleasants County, Ritchie County and Cameron were the other teams placing.
Middle School Girls results for the Stormin’ the Castle show seven teams and 38 individuals runners took part. Leading the way for local runner was TCMS seventh grader Makenna Martin who finished second overall with a time of 16:19.90. Next was Knights seventh grader Maddy Cox who came in fifth with a time of 16:51.10. Se
veth grader Camryn Westbrook of Tyler finished ninth with a time of 18:30.20. The Silver Knights also had seventh grader Lily Dillaman grab the 11th spot with a time of 19:27.80 and Lily Haught eigth grade get the 13 spot with a time of 20:13.20. Seveth grader Janna Brown finished in the 15th position with a time of 20:21.80 Paden City eigth grader Jadyn Duncan came in 18th with a time of 20:59.40, her PC teammate sevennth grader Lily Hatcher finished 26th with a time of 23:16.60.
Silver Knight seventh grader Olivia Roberts was 30th with a time of 24:54.60. TCMS sixth graders Heaven Pittmanand Zoe Fisher each finished the race with times of 30:25.70 and 42:16.60. Pleasants County was the overall team winner with 28 total team points followed by Tyler Consolidated Middle with a score of 30. Cameron Middle School came in third with 75 points.
