Tyler Consolidated Junior Jocelyn Foltz has been making a name for herself all season in the sprints and long jump for the Knights. With hard work and determination Foltz has earned a reputation among area teams as a threat each time she lines up to perform.
Going into the state track meet at Charleston on June 10, Jocelyn set her goals high, she was determined to perform well with one of her goals to bring home a gold medal. That she did, and she did it in style by knocking off the 100 meter favorite from Williamstown with a sparkling time of 13.13.
Foltz has been running in the 13 second range all season, nearly getting to the 12 second range on several occassions. Some of her toughest competition has been right here at home against her own teammates which she attributes to pushing her hard in practice, and helping make her better.
“I’m still trying to process it, but it feels really good,” Foltz said. “It’s amazing. I have a lot of good girls in my grade and all of them are great competitors. They push me where I am. I’m just thankful for all my competitors and everyone that has pushed me this far.”
