Ritchie County High School Hosts LKC Track Championship

The LKC track and field championships held at Ritchie County high school Chuck Schofield Memorial Stadium on May 28, was won by Doddrige County with 179 total team points followed by Ritchie County with 149 team points.

St. Marys was next with 51, Williams town with 45, and Tyler Consolidated in fifth place with 28.

For the Silver Knights Austin Timmons got them on the board with a second place finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.35 good for eight points.

He was edged out of first place by Brennan Miller of Doddridge County with a 54.34 time.

The Knights 4×100 meter relay team came in third with a team of Sean Winfrey, Trey Landis, Sage Landis, and Jackson Kibbey in a time of 48.96, good for six more team points.

The Silver Knights team of Timmons, C. Landis, Winfrey and Kibbey also score points for the Knights with a fourth place in the 200 meter relay in time of 1:40.79 to add four more points to the total.

Tyler Consolidated senior high jumper Hadyn Brown came in first in the event clearing the bar at 6-00.00 to grab 10 points and finish the Knights scoring on the day.

In the Girls Division the Silver Knights finished fifth out of 14 teams with 37 points.

Williamstown was the winner with 154 team points and Doddridge County was second with 111 points, followed by Ritchie County 94 and St. Marys 49.

For the Knights junior speedster Jocelyn Foltz came in second in the 100 meter dash getting edged at the finish line by Brookelyn Reynolds of Wiliamstown 13.20 to 13.28. Foltz earned eight points in the event for Tyler.

Despite going into the finals as number one following her win in the preliminaries, Foltz ended in fourth place in the finals respectively with a time of 27.50 to put four more points on the board and give her 12 individually.

The Silver Knights 4×100 meter relay team made up of Makayla Haught, Caitlyn Northcraft, Victoria Yost and Foltz came in second for eight team points with a time of 55.00.

In the high jump Trinity Kanz finished in fourth place with a jump of 4-08.00 for four points and Northcraft added a point by clearing the bar at 4-6.00 in sixth place.

Freshman Sydney Deaton got in on the scoring for Tyler with a fifth place throw in the discus 85-01.00 good for two points.

Jocelyn Foltz finished off a good night with a winning leap in the long jump, besting the field with a 16-01.75 good for 10 points and giving her 24 points earned on the day, enough to place her on the All-Conference performer list.
