Knights Shutout by Ritchie County
Visiting Tyler Consolidated had a long ride home after falling to the Rebels of Ritchie County 8-0 and 9-2 on Wednesday night, May 19, in double header action. In game one the Knights couldn’t get anything going at the plate as the Rebels held them without a hit in the five inning contest. The home team however plated 8 runs to get the win 8-0 in five.
Ritchie brought in five runs in the third inning, two runs in the fourth and an insurance run in the fifth. The Rebels had eight hits in the game and committed one error. The Wildcats committed two errors and went hitless. Elliott got the no-hit win for the Rebels striking out seven batters and allowing only one walk.
Templeton took the loss for the Knights throwing three innings, giving up seven runs on five hits, five walks and six errors, while striking out four. Wall came on in relief in the bottom of the fourth and gave up three hits, one run and a walk.
Game two saw the Rebels come out on top 9-2. The home team took a 2-1 lead after three innings, but the Silver Knights plated a run in the fourth inning to tie the game.
The Rebels came back big in the fifth with two runs and added five more in the sixth to get the win. Brayden Wall took the loss for the Knights going the distance and giving up nine runs, on seven hits and five walks, plus two strikeouts. The Knights also committed six errors in the game.
Tyler had five hits in the contest with Louden, Spencer, Dennis, Templeton and Ice all getting hits. Ritchie ‘s Elliott took the win striking out 11 batters and giving up one earner run with no walks.
TCHS Girls Fall to Ravenswood
Tyler County Girls Softball fell to Ravenswood on Monday, May 10 by the score for 10-2. Losing pitcher for the Knights Briann Wall went four innings walking one with two strikeouts. Leading the Knights in hitting was Leah Loudin going two for three at the plate and Audrey Dennis who was two for three hits at the plate with a double. Ravenswood winning pitcher was Jamie Naylor who went 5 innings with two strikouts.
Tyler Consolidated Girls Softball Falls Short to St Marys
Tyler Consolidated Girls Softball lost at home to St. Mary’s on Tuesday, May 11 by the final score of 7-4. Tyler led after two innings 3-1 but St. Mary’s put together a four run third inning to take the lead they never relinquished. St. Marys added two runs in the top of the fifth and Tyler added one in the bottom of the seventh. Tyler was led in hitting by Ashlee Spencer going two for four, Briann Templeton two for three, Audrey Dennis one for four with a triple, and Romana Rice one for three.
Lady Knights Take Down Magnolia
The Silver Knights defeated the Magnolia Blue Eagles on Wednesday May 12 by the final score of 8-1. Leading the way for the Knights was Audrey Dennis going two for three with a double and one RBI. Maddie Ice was two for four with three RBI’s. Braden Wall was one for threee with a Triple. Tyler erupted scoring six runs in the sixth inning to seal the victory. Tyler Pitching held Magnolia to one run on five hits.
TCHS Girls Sweep Cameron in Double Header
Lauren Templeton pitched a perfect game on Monday May 17 defeating Cameron by the score of 9-0. Ashlee Spencer was perfect at the plate going one for one, scoring two runs and had one RBI. Lauren Templeton helped her cause also going one for one on the night.
The Knights also took game two by the final score of 9-1.Braden Wall got the win for the Lady Knights allowing only two hits, one run, seven strikeouts and one walk. Ashlee Spencer went three for three at the plate, scoring one run and one RBI. Romana Rice was two for three with one RBI. The Knights had 10 hits in the game led by Spencer, Rice, Mallory Westbrook, Maddie Ice, Braden Wall, Briann Templeton and Sadie Nichols all with singles.
