Owen Westbrook Delivers to Ravenswood Batter

Two top 10 high school baseball teams did battle at Tyler Consolidated’s Home Field on Thursday, May 6 with the Silver Knights delivering a walk off win in the bottom of the seventh-inning to defeat #5 ranked Williamstown 4-3. Freshman Zade Billings smacked a two run walk off single scoring Hayden Baker and Weston Henderson.

Ty Walton continued his dominance on the mound going seven innings allowing three runs on seven hits and striking out 10 Williamstown batters to get the win. Billings finished with two hits and two RBI and Mason Nichols drove in two runs.

“We have 14 hard-nosed, disciplined ball players that are team first. The guys have bought into our staff’s philosophy and way of doing things and their talent and training has done them well to this point,” said a jubilant Coach Rob Jones after the game.

Number 10 ranked Tyler Consolidated improved their record to 7-3 and next face Ravenswood in a double header at home on Saturday May 8th.

TCHS Boys Baseball Take Two From Ravenswood

It was a big day for Coach Rob Jones Silver Knights baseball team as they swept a doubleheader from Ravenswood on Saturday May 8th. It was also a special day for Coach Jones in his eighth year as Head Baseball Coach at Tyler Consolidated, he picked up win number 100 and 101.

In game one, The Silver Knights stole the lead late in the game in an 8-3 victory. The game was tied at three with the Knights batting in the bottom of the fifth when Owen Westbrook hit into a fielders choice but scored one run. The Knights tallied three runs in the sixth inning led by Weston Henderson, Jayden Helmick and Zade Billings who each had RBIs. Owen Westbrook took the win on the hill for the Silver Knights. The south paw surrendered three runs on six hits over seven innings striking out two and walking one. Zade Billings went two for four at the plate to lead the Knights in hits. Jayden Helmick had three stolen bases. Dalton Moore led Ravenswood with two hits in three at bats.

Game two saw the Silver Knights run away with a 13-4 victory over Ravenswood. Carson Gorby was perfect on the day going four for four at the plate all doubles. Gorby doubled in the first, fourth, fifth, and seventh innings. Hayden Brown was the winning pitcher for the Silver Knights. The right hand pitcher surrendered four runs on five hits over five and one-third innings striking out 10. Jayden Helmick threw one and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen. On the day the Silver Knights tallied 12 hits. Gorby, Zade Billings and Mason Nichols all managed multiple hits for the Silver Knights. Zade billings had two stolen bases as the Silver Knights collected six stolen bases as a team.

Anthony Anglin went two for three to lead Ravenswood in hits. Ben Queen stole three bases for the Red Devils.

TCHS improved their record to 9-3 on the year winning six in row and eight out of their last nine games. They are 7-1 in the LKC West Division and 4-0 in their section. Next up for the Knights is a doubleheader against Valley at home on Monday May 10th.
