Knights Compete in Ritchie County/Pizza House Invitational

Nine teams competed in the Ritchie County/Pizza House Invitational track meet on Friday night, May 7, with Doddridge County coming out on top in the Boys division with 126 points followed by Ritchie Co. with 124. Buchanan Upshur finished third with 112 points while Williamstown came in fourth with 69. St. Marys was next with 48 followed by Wood County Christian with 35.50 and Tyler Consolidated with 30.50. Ravenswood scored two points.

The Silver Knights got four points in the 200 meter dash as senior Jackson Kibby came in fourth with a time of 24.68. Freshman Sage Landis also gave the Knights four points with his fourth place finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 56.96. Justin Bowman added a point to the Knights scorebook with a fifth place finish in the 800meter run with a time of 2:20.14.

Tyler grabbed second place in the 4×200 meter relay with a team of Issac Rush, Jackson Kibbey, Trey Landis, and Sean Winfrey. The Knights picked up eight points in the event with a time of 1:41.80.

Hadyn Brown won the high jump crossing the bar at 5-10.00 good for 10 points for the Silver Knights. They got a half point from Sage Landis in the pole vault as he tied for sixth place with a vault of 9-00.00. In the long jump Tyler picked up three points with Bowman finishing fifth with a leap of 18-03.00 good for two points and Winfrey jumping 18-01.75 good for sixth and one point.

The Silver Knights girls team finished fifth among the nine teams scoring as they ended with 41points. Williamstown won the event with 153 points followed by Doddridge County with 125. Ritchie Co.was third and St. Marys finished fourth.

The Knights picked up four points in the 100 meter dash behind a fourth place finish by Jocelyn Foltz with a time of 13.75. Foltz added six more points for the Knights with a third place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.14. Tyler picked up one point in the 100 meter hurdles with a sixth place finish from Makayla Haught who ran a 19.36.

In the 4×100 meter relay Tyler took second place with a team of Haught, Caitlyn Northcraft, Victoria Yost, and Foltz, with a time of 56.88 good for eight team points. The girls 4×200 relay team of Northcraft, Raylyn Roberts, Caitlyn Hayes, and Trinity Kanz, with a time of 2:09.31 good for four points.

The Silver Knights got four more points from Kanz in the high jump as she crossed the bar at 4-06.00, while Northcraft got sixth with a jump of 4-00.00 good for one point. Foltz gave the Knights eight more points with a second place finish in the long jump with a leap of 13-11.00. In the shot put the Silver Knights took fifth and sixth for three points with Haught getting fifth with a toss of 28-06.50, while Sydney Deaton took sixth with a toss of 26-03.50. Deaton also came in fifth in the discus throw with a heave of 80-03 good for two points.
