Tyler Consolidated Opens Baseball Season with a Victory

Mason Nichols Crosses Home Plate for the First Run Scored at the New TCHS Baseball Field

Tyler Consolidated Silver Knights opened the baseball season in the new stadium with a 6-0 shut out of Ritchie County. Ty Walton, on the mound for the Knights, pitched a 2 hit shut out with 16 strikes outs, setting a school record. Mason Nichols opened with a double and scored the first run of the new stadium. Other contributors for the Knights were Jayden Helmick going one for two and scoring two runs. Mason Nichols was one for three scoring one run. Owen Westbrook was one for three scoring one run and had one RBI. Weston Henderson also was one for three, scored one run and had one RBI. Tyler Ferrell scored one run to round out the scoring for the Knights.

Quoting Coach Rob Jones, ” It was nice to open the new stadium with a shut out win. Ty Walton pitched a gem. We we really pleased with how he commanded his fastball and was able to keep the Ritchie hitters off balance. It was a nice team effort to open the year.”


Tyler Consolidated boys baseball got off to a fast start against Beltsville, Ohio scoring five runs in the first inning two in the second and seven in the third while holding Beallsville scoreless. The 5 inning game ended 14-0 TCHS. Silver Knights Zade Billings was 2-3 with a double and a single and Hayden Brown was 1-3 with a triple. Also contributing was Carson Gorby, 2-3 with a triple and a single. Weston Henderson followed with a pair of singles. Next up for the Knights is a double headed vs Wahama on Saturday April 24.
