Tyler’s Defense Readies for Action

Tyler Consolidated fell in the first round of the sectional basketball tournament to Clay Battelle by the score of 41-38 on Wednesday, April 14 at Clay Battelle. Tyler held a seven point advantage with three minutes to go in the third quarter but was unable to hang on as the Cee Bees hit clutch shots in the 4th quarter. Tyler’s stiff defensive game plan paid off as they held the Cee Bees leading scorer Mojo Chisler to just 10 points, five of them coming from the free-throw line. The Silver Knights trailed by one at the halftime, but a 14-9 Clay Batelle advantage in the 4th quarter led to the loss. TCHS was led in scoring by Caleb Strobe with a game high 15 points followed by Justin Bowman with 10. The Knights trailed by 3 points with 3 seconds to play and had the ball but a 3 point shot rimmed out to end the game. Clay Battelle was led by Gavin Moore with 14 points and Mojo Chisler with 10.

Although the Silver Knights were defeated, the double elimination format provides them an opportunity on Wednesday April 28 to face off at Cameron for the trip to Charleston and the State Tournament.
