Hayden Baker Points Out the Open Man

The homestanding Lumberjacks put up a good battle on Tuesday Night, March 30, in Pine Grove against the visiting Silver Knights, but the tale of two halves made the difference as they fell to Tyler 72-51. Trailing by just one point at the break, it looked like the Lumberjacks might get a big win, but the visitors had other ideas as they came out of the locker room and hit for 21 third quarter points to stretch their lead to 11 with eight minutes to play. The fourth quarter was more of the same as they added 10 more points to their lead to outscore Valley 37-17 in the second half.

Leading the way for the visiting Silver Knights was Caleb Strode with 19 points including three from long range., while grabbing nine rebounds. Hayden Baker added 16 points to the Knights total as he connected on four three pointers of his own. Also in double figures for the visitors was senior Justin Bowman with 13 including a three, along with seven assists. Hunter Bailey added eight, David Throckmorton and Trey Landis each hit six and Jackson Kibbey pitched in four. Baker ended with six steals and Landis contributed nine rebounds.

For the Lumberjacks Logan Bassett led the way with 12 points, which included four 3-pointers. Gavin Streets hit a 3-pointer and ended with 10 points. Beau Wyatt and Walker Bassett each added seven, while Tommy Shannon and Brigg Anderson hit for six each. Pat Higgenbottom rounded out the scoring with a three pointer.


Tyler Consolidated played host to the St Marys Blue Devils on April 1 in Kidwell. The game was close all the way with St Marys pulling away late to take the win 40-32. Defense was the name of game for both teams with Tyler leading at halftime 18-14. Tyler was held to only 1 point in the 3rd quarter which led to a 25-19 St Marys lead at the end of 3 quarters. Hayden Baker led the way for the Silver Knights with 10 points followed by Trey Landis with seven and Caleb Strobe with six points and eight rebounds. St Marys had three players score in double figures with Ben Long 13 points, Brandon Lawhon 10 points and 7 rebounds, and Grant Barnhart with 13 points.

TCHS next plays Madonna at Tyler Consolidated on Saturday April 3rd.

Tyler JV’s came away with a victory over St Marys by the score of 44-37. Tyler was led by Hayden Brown with 11 points.


On Saturday April 3rd the Silver Knights defeated Madonna by the score of 58-49. Tyler had three players in double figures led by Trey Landis with 15 points, followed by Caleb Strobe with 14 points and 9 rebounds and Hayden Baker with 13, including three 3 pointers. Tyler pulled down a team high 35 rebounds and dished out 14 assists led by Conner Bailey with 5. Tyler also had 8 steals and forced Madonna into 9 turnovers. Madonna was led in scoring by Santino Arlia with 11 points. Tyler improves their record to 8-5 and next welcomes powerful Williamstown to the Castle on Monday April 5th.
